I wish we could have been friends back then.

More than just quick hellos and secret smiles.

Talks about nothing, laughing at that joke.

Coffee at my house sitting in the kitchen.

We should have been friends at least back then.

We should have had a wild affair  back then not cared.

Stepped across lines mistakenly drawn too soon.

Caressing each other with more than just eyes.

Devouring  each other with a hunger that ached.

I so wanted what I didn't understand  wasn't taboo.

Here we are today , still ,always its hard to know.

Did we become those friends after all that time?

You havent sat at my table, laughed at those jokes

But I dont just want to call you friend now.
